2019 Prescott Valley Police Department Youth Academy

The Prescott Valley Police Department is excited to announce its inaugural 2019 Youth Academy “A Peek Behind the Curtain” to be conducted from Wednesday, January 2 to Saturday, January 5 at the Police Department. Academy size is limited to 15 students aged 14 to 18 years of age and who are attending school within the town limits of Prescott Valley. This program is being offered free of charge to these students.

We want our community’s youth to see what it means to be a police officer, to live a life of sacrifice and service to a community, and how rewarding and fulfilling this life can be. We have arranged specialized trainers to come and spend their time and knowledge enriching the lives of our participants. We have many surprises planned for attendees as they become part of a select group to get a “peek behind the curtain” at the leadership and ethics involved in this profession. As an agency, we recognize the value and potential of our high school students as leaders in our community. We want to partner with them (and the community as a whole) in helping them reach that potential. Our attendees will leave the academy certified in first aid. They will have exciting experiences in team building and the importance of professionalism in times of crisis.

Applications for the academy are available at this link, at the high school and at the police station. Those accepted to the academy will be notified before Friday, December 21.

We are asking for donations from the business community in the form of cash sponsorships and meals during the four days to assist us in providing an outstanding leadership experience for our kids. Our sponsors will be advertised on our academy t-shirts, our media releases and our banners. Please make checks payable to “Prescott Valley Police Foundation” with Youth Academy on the memo line. 100% of your donations will go to this program. Donations can be dropped off at the station or you can contact CSO Jodi Mullins at 928-772-5164 to make arrangements. This is a great way to make a small contribution that can have larger benefits for our community and our future! Thank you in advance for partnering with us for our kids.
